Experience
The Sheepdog Experience is for anyone with a passion for dogs and the outdoors. No dog is required. The Sheepdog Experience is half a day with James Gilman, in an intimate group so it is very hands on. You’ll experience all aspects of training, working and trailing sheepdogs from young pups to trial winning dogs, meeting the team of sheepdogs at Pye Ash. The Sheepdog Experience takes place on select dates throughout the year.

SHEEPDOG
Training
James has been training sheepdogs for over 35 years. He began with an unregistered pup, Jill that cost him £5. Now, 35 years later we are on the 8th generation from Jill. Along the way some of James’ highlights have been winning one man and his dog with Dotty and Peggy, winning Brace at the English National Championships and representing England at the International Sheepdog Trials multiple times. This year he is looking forward to representing England at the World Trials in September.
Sheepdog Consultation
During a sheepdog consultation James will assess your dog and discuss with you your aims and what he thinks is achievable. He can advise on next steps and will use our team of dogs if required, to demonstrate the different aspects of training. We have different fields / pens and breeds of sheep to cater for all abilities of dogs.
Sheepdog Lessons
The sheepdog lessons are suitable for anyone who has been for a consultation. At the consultation, James will be able to advise as to how often he recommends you to come for lessons. Lessons can be paid for per lesson, or can be booked at a discount for a block.
Pup Consultation
James offers pup consultations for pups over 12 weeks old, providing they have had all of their vaccinations. Although dogs don’t generally start formal training until they’re 6-12 months old, there is a lot of basic training that you can start doing straight away which James will go through with you.
